How Do You Know When You Need Couples Therapy?
You might be feeling like you are stuck with your partner in the same exhausting cycle over and over again.
You may feel dismissed, disconnected and misunderstood, when this is supposed to be a person that understands you better than anyone else.
Your communication not only doesn’t resolve anything but often makes things worse.
Relationships can be hard, and healthy communication takes practice and sometimes a little guidance from a person who can give you the proper tools and coach you through the tough conversations. Reaching out for couples therapy does not mean your relationship is doomed, it means that you care enough about your relationship to put the effort into it that you both deserve. If you’re starting to wonder if you need couples therapy, it is likely time to reach out. The quicker you get started on setting up healthier communication patterns and breaking out of the negative cycle, the easier it will be to create a relationship where you feel connected and on the same team again.

My Approach to Couples Therapy
My approach to couples therapy is collaborative, compassionate and practical. I’m not there to take sides or to say who is right and who is wrong, rather, I am there to help each of you feel understood, heard and respected so that you can move forward in your relationship in a way that feels aligned with both of your needs and values. In the first couple of sessions, I will take a look at your communication patterns and the things that are keeping you stuck and make a plan on how to overcome these roadblocks. Then, we will practice strategies to help you communicate more effectively and connect on a deeper level. Over time we will refine your skills and help you build the relationship and life that you both want. Sessions are designed to be interactive, allowing you to work on communication and connection in the moment, not just talk about it. I use evidence-based approaches such as The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which means you’re not just getting advice, you’re practicing skills that have been shown to truly help couples thrive.
